Being Green is Being in Love
Being green starts by loving oneself and everything around us just as it is. The moment we step out of loving ourselves we start to do harm, not only to our self but also to our surroundings, like a domino affect. If we come from a place of love within, this energy will then be transmitted into every action. This includes an acceptance of both who we are and how the environment is in this moment.We have this illusion that we are separate from that moose head hanging over the mantle, the endangered wood that made our cabinetry, the hide of the cow that covers our sofas or even the truck that we hired to haul the sofa across the country, not to mention across the globe. But scientifically, in fact, we are made up of the same molecular configuration as these things. Yet, somehow we have forgotten our interconnectedness to all things.
When we mistreat animals, minerals, material resources and nature, we are mistreating ourselves. It is ‘thought’ which creates the ego, which constructs the illusion that we are separate from all things. When thoughts subside we can abide in our blissful self which is not separate from everything we have created in our waking dream.
So, in living this waking dream, make the choices which take you to your connectedness to all things, and in turn you will live in love of your true self. Spirit Interior Design and Gallery, Inc. was created to awaken this dream. Every morning when we walk into the gallery we light a candle and set the intention for the day to love. We feature furniture built of sustainable material by local artists; unique pieces made by Viet Nam Vets living in the Olympic mountains who have found a way to survive through using their creative energies and take the roots from destroyed trees and turn them into furniture; fine artists whose creative energies invite pleasure to the senses through their paintings; decorative lighting fixtures created by local artists as well as LED energy efficient light sources; EcoTimber, a FSC certified flooring material; American Clay, a non- toxic living material for your walls; upholstery made with sustainable material; organic mattresses and bedding; and items that support families in Nepal and India. Our Spirit Center embraces all traditions and ways of living. When you visit our showroom don’t be surprised if you will experience coming home to your true self.
If this story causes you to feel guilt it is not our intention, you are perfect. If it causes you to move forward in the love that you are, we have succeeded in telling you our story.
